Trump Log #49: The Fuck Obama Doctrine

Whether you like Barack Obama as president or not, you at least have to admit, he was consistent. He was so consistent that many people referred to his style of governing as the Obama Doctrine. In contrast, Trump's style is inconsistent and chaotic. While Obama's was a slow country drive, Trump's is a roller coaster. Unpredictable indeed, which has its merits. The only consistency seems that is he is slowly dismantling Obama's accomplishments, regardless of how successful they are. This is what we can call the Fuck Obama Doctrine.

The longer he is president, the more I see some sort of consistency. He seems to believe an unstable world is good for America. Not just our enemies, but of friends as well. To put it into an analogy, imagine if you have one very rich power "friend" that liked to throw your life into chaos because it benefited him a little. Would you be that person's friend for long?  That is Trump's America. America First equals America alone.

Monday 6/18/18 - This administration lies so much that they cannot get their stories straight about the policy of separating children from their parents at the border. They changed their story fourteen times. (Source: Washington Post)

Tuesday 6/19/18 - The Trump administration is withdrawing from the United Nations' Human Rights Council, isolating us just a little bit more. (Source: Washington Post)

Wednesday 6/20/18 - Trump is pulling prosecutors from other, more important issues, for them to work on misdemeanors on the border. (Source: PBS News Hour)

Thursday 6/21/18 - New rules for the ACA, implemented by Trump, may be good for small businesses, but they will certainly be awful for their employees who will be losing coverage for mental health care, emergency services, maternity and newborn care, and prescription drugs. (Source: Washington Post)

Friday 6/22/18 - Trump wants to move SNAP program (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program that feeds up to 42 million poor Americans) from the Agriculture Department to the Department of Health and Human Services. He then wants to changed the name of the latter to include the word "Welfare" so that it will be easier to cut. (Source: New York Times)

Saturday 6/23/18 - In another obvious example that this President thinks he is above the law, four of the tax returns that Trump signed for the Donald J. Trump Foundation, are being used in a perjury case against him. In 2007, 2012, 2013 and 2014, his "charitable" foundation used funds to benefit Donald J. Trump. (Source: Washington Post)

Sunday 6/24/18 - What did I just say about Trump not respecting the rule of law? He wants to prosecute immigrants without due process.  (Source: Washington Post)

Trump Log #48 - Why You Don't Elect a Poor Businessman to the Most Powerful Office on the Planet

Being a good businessman is not a precursor to being a good president. In US history, it has probably only happened once, George Washington, who was a plantation owner and president of the Potomac Company. The only other presidents before Trump that have major private sector experience were Herbert Hoover (mining), Calvin Coolidge (banking) and George W. Bush (oil). This is hardly a Mount Rushmore of a great leaders. All of them had some government experience before becoming president. Bush was governor of Texas, Coolidge was Governor of Massachusetts and VP and Hoover was Secretary of Commerce and Secretary of the US Food Administration. Only Trump comes to the presidency from the private sector with zero government experience and it shows.

If he were a good businessman, I might understand supporting him (nah, probably not). But he is not even close to being a good businessman. He declared bankruptcy several times. Trump's airline (Trump Shuttle) collapsed. Trump University folded after settling a major class action with thousands of victims. Trump Steaks were discontinued by Sharper Image because "no one was buying them."  Trump Vodka was a debacle because he made a deal with a bunch of inexperience people and the venture collapsed. Trump Ice, his bottled water band, was never really owned by him. They just put Trump labels on it. That's it! The one thing he is good at, putting his name on things. He is good at taking credit where none is deserved and marketing himself, and dumb people really eat that shit up.

His lack of political experience and poor negotiation skills show during his talks with North Korea where he promised to stop "war games" on the Korean peninsula without even talking to our ally, South Korea, about it. Once again, he screws one of our allies in favor of a dictator. North Korea has six political prisons, that we know of, holding up to approximately 200,000 political prisoners. Some of their crimes are as small as criticizing the government or being related to someone who did. In North Korea, Christians are persecuted and some women are forced to have abortions. This is a repressive country that doesn't let their citizens leave. Trump is chummy with this tyrant while he continually angers the leaders of great nations like Canada, Australia and Germany. He was played, once again, by a tyrant. He and his minion aren't self-aware enough to realize it. His agreement with North Korea is almost identical to the one that was made in 1994 which they ignored. We have no official way to check if they are adhering to this new agreement. The difference now is that Trump gave up a lot, pissed off our allies and got nothing in return. What a joke!

Trump Log #47: Leadership by Troll

Each day I read the news, I am amazed that Trump still has any supporters. It is not just what he says that is disgusting, unprofessional and out of touch with reality. It is that his decisions and actions are having a disastrous affect on our lives, our future and the lives of everyone on the planet. I have stated in the past that his supporters fall into two categories: scum and/or morons. I double down on this. If they haven't figured out by now that this guy is a disaster for everyone, they are just hopeless.  So why are you still friends with any of them?  Why are you still doing business with any of them?  There is a business in my town that has a huge Trump sign out front. They will never get my business! Not only is Trump fucking you over, his supporters are also. They are also fucking over your children and everyone you know. Trump is only half the problem. The other half is that he still has supporters and that makes it impossible to do anything about him. They are just as much scum as he is because they justify his actions.

Trump Log #46: #WhereAreTheChildren

A lot is going on, but one story should not escape your attention above all others. The children of immigrants showing up at our Southern border are not only being separated from their parents but they are being lost, over a thousand in the past year. Also, throughout the year, various types of other abusive activity by US officials have poured in including shooting an unarmed persontasing of minors and inflating of numbers to justify use of force, One in five children have been lost with some believed to have fallen in the hands of human traffickers. Why isn't there more outrage over this?  I was a bit outraged myself when I first heard about this but the more I read and listened about it, it made a lot more sense to me. They are only lost because the government doesn't know where they are. It doesn't mean that they are dead in a pit or working as sex slaves. More likely, they are lost in the bureaucracy or possibly being hidden by their parents who reconnected with them. It is still quite outrageous. I wonder how long Trump will be president before he actually takes ownership of a problem and displays some leadership.  He is clearly out of his depth.

Trump Log:

Monday 5/28/18: Over 1,400 immigrant children have been lost at the US border in the last year. (Source: Washington Post)

Tuesday 5/29/18 - On the campaign trail Trump promoted whack job ideas about 9/11 and Obama's birthplace, so why should we be surprised that he is doing the same while he is president (aka Spygate). The US president has a lot of influence on the populace. He is eroding the public's trust in our institutions.  (Source: New York Times)

Wednesday 5/30/18 - Our public school system is in danger. What is behind the movement to privatize?  Money, of course. (Source: Washington Post)

Thursday 5/31/18 - When Trump defends one of his racist friends on Twitter, Roseanne Barr, I am a little irritated but this isn't a big deal. Words matter, but not that much. Deeds matter more. Like when he pardons a complete scumbag like Dinesh D'Souza. This is a much bigger concern. (Source: New York Times)

Friday 6/1/18 - Trump isn't 100% wrong about the facts in his invented controversy of Spygate, but like most things Trump related, it is manipulated and spun to support his agenda. (Source: TheIntercept)

Saturday 6/2/18 - Trump has put higher tariffs on our allies, like Canada, than he has on China. (Source: Washington Post)

Sunday 6/3/18 - Trump EPA head, Scott Pruitt, is uncomfortably and auspiciously close to coal and oil executives, the industries he is supposed to be regulating. (Source: New York Times)
