Trump Log #46: #WhereAreTheChildren

A lot is going on, but one story should not escape your attention above all others. The children of immigrants showing up at our Southern border are not only being separated from their parents but they are being lost, over a thousand in the past year. Also, throughout the year, various types of other abusive activity by US officials have poured in including shooting an unarmed persontasing of minors and inflating of numbers to justify use of force, One in five children have been lost with some believed to have fallen in the hands of human traffickers. Why isn't there more outrage over this?  I was a bit outraged myself when I first heard about this but the more I read and listened about it, it made a lot more sense to me. They are only lost because the government doesn't know where they are. It doesn't mean that they are dead in a pit or working as sex slaves. More likely, they are lost in the bureaucracy or possibly being hidden by their parents who reconnected with them. It is still quite outrageous. I wonder how long Trump will be president before he actually takes ownership of a problem and displays some leadership.  He is clearly out of his depth.

Trump Log:

Monday 5/28/18: Over 1,400 immigrant children have been lost at the US border in the last year. (Source: Washington Post)

Tuesday 5/29/18 - On the campaign trail Trump promoted whack job ideas about 9/11 and Obama's birthplace, so why should we be surprised that he is doing the same while he is president (aka Spygate). The US president has a lot of influence on the populace. He is eroding the public's trust in our institutions.  (Source: New York Times)

Wednesday 5/30/18 - Our public school system is in danger. What is behind the movement to privatize?  Money, of course. (Source: Washington Post)

Thursday 5/31/18 - When Trump defends one of his racist friends on Twitter, Roseanne Barr, I am a little irritated but this isn't a big deal. Words matter, but not that much. Deeds matter more. Like when he pardons a complete scumbag like Dinesh D'Souza. This is a much bigger concern. (Source: New York Times)

Friday 6/1/18 - Trump isn't 100% wrong about the facts in his invented controversy of Spygate, but like most things Trump related, it is manipulated and spun to support his agenda. (Source: TheIntercept)

Saturday 6/2/18 - Trump has put higher tariffs on our allies, like Canada, than he has on China. (Source: Washington Post)

Sunday 6/3/18 - Trump EPA head, Scott Pruitt, is uncomfortably and auspiciously close to coal and oil executives, the industries he is supposed to be regulating. (Source: New York Times)
